Vigorous
R&D programs based on various approaches, at BNL, FZ-Rossendorf,
Beijing University and at AES/JLab generate optimism that low emittance
continuous wave operating SRF-guns and injectors will be available in
the near future. In the overview I will cover present status of these
programs and briefly present recently proposed alternative approach
using superconducting lead as the photo-emitter.
