Soft-pulse refocusing and decoherence in solid-state quantum computation
I will discuss theory of quantum dynamics of an open quantum system in the presence of periodic fields designed to suppress the internal evolution and shield the system from a low-frequency environment. Such a suppression occurs as coherent destruction of tunneling in atomic physics, and as refocusing, or dynamical decoupling in nuclear magnetic resonance and quantum computing applications where it could be used in conjunction with quantum error correcting codes.
