Electronic Transport Behavior of Bulk Insulating Al-Pd-Re Quasicrystalline Samples

This talk will describe anomalous electronic transport properties in Al-Pd-Re quasicrystalline samples. Some samples exhibit metallic behavior in the conductivity while other samples exhibit insulating behavior. A short introduction to quasicrystals will be given. Anomalous data taken at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory in Tallahasse, Florida will be summarized followed by explanations for the unusual insulating electronic behavior. The data include zero field resistance results down to 20 mK and magnetoresistance results up to 18 Tesla.
