Small machines: novel physics in nanoelectromechanical
systems
Nanotechnology aspires to create devices that are not merely small, but fundamentally
different than possible macroscopic analogs. In this talk I will describe several
different nanoscale devices that we have realized experimentally. Each device
can be usefully compared to a familiar macroscopic system, but exploits physics
unique to small length scales.
