January 28 - February 1, 2007, Tom Bradley International Hall, UCLA

This collaboration consists of scientists and engineers from the international community who are interested in the development of intense, cooled muon beams. We envision these muon beams to be captured, accelerated and inserted into storage rings. One application of these rings will be to provide an intense source of directed neutrinos which can be projected over great distances (1000 to 7000km) to a large detector. This will provide the basis for a unique and sensitive probe of the neutrino mass spectrum.

A second class of rings will be to collide counter-circulating muon beams. This machine can be used for the study of lepton-lepton collisions in the energy range of 1 to 4 TeV, thus providing precision physics measurements beyond the capabilities of the Large Hadron Collider.

Topics of Interest

Topics will include: Neutrino Factories, Muon Colliders, Muon Beam Cooling Scenarios, High-Power Targetry, MICE experiment, and Acceleration and Storage Ring Schemes. Click the Agenda link for an up-to-date schedule of topics.

Welcome reception and meeting sessions and will take place on the UCLA campus at Tom Bradley International Hall at the west end of campus. The distinctive orange building, located near the corners of Gayley Ave. and Strathmore Ave., is pictured at left.

The welcome reception will be held between 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Sunday January 28 in International Room 1. Regular sessions in International Room 3 will begin at 8:30 a.m (8:00 am on Monday Feb. 29) and conclude at 5:00 p.m. A dinner for meeting participants is scheduled for Wednesday January 31 in International Room 5 & 6. Sessions conclude on Thursday February 1.

Update January 31: If you need a cab to pick you up from Tom Bradley Hall/De Neve Plaza to take you to the airport, these are some reputable firms: Yellow Cab 310-808-1000 or 800-200-1085; Beverly Hills Cab Co. 310-273-6611 or 800-273-6611; Independent Taxi 323-666-0050 or 800-521-8294; United Checker Cab Company 310-834-1121; United Independent Taxi 213-483-7660 or 310-821-1000.

For airport shuttles try Prime Time Shuttle 1-800-RED-VANS and ask whether they have a special UCLA rate; or Super Shuttle 1-800-BLUE-VAN.

If you plan to use local public transportation please consult the UCLA & Public Transit page for detailed information of all available options. The Santa Monica Blue Bus (Route 3) travels from Ackerman Union to LAX and costs 75 cents; travel time is about 1.5 hours.
