A limited number of room termperature diamagnet stabilized levitators are now available for sale. The levitators come with a lifting magnet and a nickel plated NIB floater. The distance between the lifter and the floater is adjustable and the gap spacing between the graphite plates is adjustable up to about 5/16". The lifter magnet can easily be removed for experimentation with other lifter configurations. The levitators are small enough to fit in your pocket. They are about 1 inch (2.5 cm) in diameter and about 4 inches (10 cm) tall.
There are two models which are identical except for the graphite. Model RGV uses highly purified graphite which has a diamagnetic susceptibility of about 160 x 10^(-6) in dimensionless SI units. Model PGV uses a more expensive pyrolytic graphite which has the highest diamagnetic susceptibility for any solid substance (except superconductors) of about 450 x 10^(-6). The more diamagnetic graphite gives a slightly larger gap for the same configuration. A picture of Model PGV is below.
