Activities in the experimental plasma physics group include basic research on plasma properties, thermonuclear fusion, space plasma physics, and the environment.

Basic research is concerned with waves, instabilities, electron MHD physics, highly nonlinear phenomena, and advances in plasma.

Typical problems related to fusion research are magnetic confinement studies, plasma heating with beams and high frequency fields, turbulent heat and particle transport, high beta effects and alternate concepts.
