1. Hydrogen
2. In the asymtotic giant stage of small stars the envelope is puffed off, probably by helium shell flash, leaving the remnent white dwarf core.
the slowly expanding envelope, flouresced by the white dwarf, is the planetary nebula.
3. There are no logarithms on the test. Calculators are optional, and probably unnecessary.
