Hauser Teaching:

This academic year, Hauser is not teaching at UCLA because he is doing research full-time at the CERN laboratory in Geneva, Switzerland.

Hauser has taught many physics and astronomy courses at undergraduate and graduate levels. Favorites are:

Astronomy 3: a general introduction to Astronomy, ranging from the Solar System to the entire universe and its creation
Physics 1C: Magnetism, light, optics, and Special Relativity
Physics 180F: Senior-level particle physics laboratory
Physics 226A: Graduate-level elementary particle physics
Physics 269B: Graduate-level seminar. Past topics include "Higgs and Supersymmetric Particles", "Electronics for Experimental Physicists", and "Physics of the Large Hadron Collider".

In Fall 2013, Hauser taught Physics 226A, a graduate-level elementary particle physics class, largely from CERN. For the middle six weeks of the quarter, the class was taught remotely using simple tools - Skype and a good webcam from Hauser's office at CERN. A modern, experiment-lead approach to the curriculum was pioneered, including the use of computational programs for evaluating Feynman diagrams and incorporating proton structure functions. By all accounts, this was a successful trial of long-distance learning.
