Kangerlussuaq

Arrived today in Kangerlussuaq, Greenland. I’ll be here at least until Sunday. Then I’ll be headed up to Summit Camp, where there will be about 45 other people.

The town of Kangerlussuaq engulfs an enormous airfield. The town and airfield are surrounded by shockingly straight mountain crags. The rocks are brown and stratified. The air is dry; the sunlight is bright; and the mountains draw you in.

I'm staying in a dorm for the next couple days with a communal atmosphere. We were welcomed by what David calls the ``best thai food in the world.'' Tomorrow we'll probably make a plan for the first week in Summit, and then do a little site seeing. We'll bike to see some Greenlandic puppies and go to the grocery stoe to buy the towel that I forgot.

Should be exciting.

By the way, I'm having trouble with the Flickr images on my site. I'm going to disable them for now and try to fix them later. You can view my Flickr images at: https://www.flickr.com/photos/127711763@N08/.
