W.2.7 Fluorescent Motor Driven String

This demo illustrates standing waves, or normal modes, on a string. A black light shines on a motor- driven fluorescent string. As the input frequency changes and corresponds to one of the normal modes, or harmonics as referred to in music, the nodes and antinodes appear. A strobe may be used to "freeze" a particular harmonic.
